One of Durhams leading accountancy firm seeks Practice Accountant to support continued business expansion. The role will provide and deliver tax, accountancy & VAT services with the personal touch that our small business clients demand. You will work closely with all the existing team and will be taking a leading role in the preparation and checking of final work.

You will need to be able to prepare accounts, although most of the work is for small businesses to £500,000 t/o. You will have the opportunity to be client facing.

The role will include the following duties and therefore you are required to have technical experience in:

• Reviewing & preparing of Self-Assessment Tax Returns and accounts for sole traders and partnerships.
• Reviewing & preparing Ltd Company management accounts, year-end accounts and Corporation Tax Returns.
• Reviewing & preparing VAT Returns.
• Assisting and working with other members of staff.

You will have proven accounts and taxation knowledge gained via appropriate and recent practice experience and be used to working on your own initiative.

Ideally, you will be AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/ACA. We would also welcome your application if you are qualified by experience.

You must have a good working knowledge of accounts preparation and computations of taxes with the ability to hit the ground running and assist with complex tasks. As a successful candidate you will also have:

You will also have a sound knowledge of accounting principles and strong business acumen. Your tax knowledge must be up to date and you will need good IT skills.
