Based in Hemel Hempstead, our client are looking for a new Company Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their team and lead the finance function on a day to day basis. The company is an established SME business (circa £10m turnover ) with business globally.

This will be a full time role in a sole charge position looking after all aspects of the company finances. (with the possibility to grow within the management of the company).

The role will ideally be based in the office with the option of some hybrid home working. 


This is an all round accounts role and the right candidate will be grounded and very reliable.

The role will cover everything from:

  • Handling the whole company financial procedures and working with external auditors
  • Management Accounts
  • Payroll for 25 staff
  • VAT returns
  • PAYE payments and returns
  • Paying Creditors
  • Online Banking
  • Managing day to day accounts processing
  • Purchase ledger invoice processing and supplier payments
  • Supplier reconciliations
  • Month end accounting
  • Processing expenses
  • Month end accruals and prepayments
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Day to day cash flow management and reporting
  • Maintaining Fixed Assets register
  • Liaising with the auditors.


  • Qualified, Part Qualified or QBE will be considered
  • Good accounting software knowledge and experience - Sage 50 is currently used but they are looking to move away from this
  • Strong experience of overseeing all aspects of the day to day finance function
  • Experienced Excel user and proficient in other MS Office products
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent system skills.
