Our client is a young company, currently with a small turnover but with big ambitions based at Hillsborough in Sheffield.

To date they have run the Finance function with a full-time but low-level qualified Accountant supported by a part-time Financial Controller who works on a sporadic basis, mainly from home. As the Accountant has left and the FC wishes to retire they are taking the opportunity to change the structure to serve them better in the future.
 
Estimate work 1 per week (potentially 2) but this is an average and will need to be flexible eg weeks with month/year end will need more than others. Most work can be done from home with visit to office less than one day per week. 
Role Description:
  • To manage the finance function and to provide support to management through analysis and explanation of information and commercial input.
  • Ensure AA operates effectively and assist where necessary.
  • Review and finalise management accounts. Create journals for wages and foreign exchange.
  • Liase with USA Head Office over procedures, their inputs and other general matters
  • Provide analysis of accounts, sales and margins
  • Attend monthly management meeting (MD and Operations Manager)
  • Act as IT systems manager - specifically review use of system and ensure is used effectively; ensure databases are accurate; manage security, passwords etc; maintain procedures. Particularly maintain control of product database and cost thereof.
  • Draft the budget (with MD)
  • Negotiate commercial contracts as necessary (eg utilities; insurance)
  • Company House returns and Company Secretarial matters
  • NOTE - Funding is provided from USA Head Office so no treasury function.

  • Excel, Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Excellent organisational and multi-tasking skills

  • Diplomatic and flexible in approach
