Our client is a London-based media company, specialising in the legal market. Through Print and Digital channels, they provide legal, regulatory and policy information to sources globally.

They are now looking to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a part time basis who will work closely with the Senior Management team - the role will oversee finance reporting, controls and target greater efficiency. This is a part time role (flexible hours but approx. 4 hours per day or 2..5 - 3 days per week).
NOTE: Interviews will need to be held during week of 3 December
Note that you will be the only qualified Accountant and as such will be required to complete and oversee the bookkeeping responsibilities in line with the FC role. 
Role Description:
  • Managing account staff and supervising day to day accounts processing (heavy lifting of data input into SAGE completed by assistant)
  • Will need to do general Bookkeeping tasks such as VAT / Ledger updates
  • PAYE/NI Payslips, Pension and Benefits
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Preparation of the monthly MI and reporting pack including variance analysis and KPIs.
  • Day to day cash flow management and reporting.  
  • Liaison with external accountants for tax and annual audit 
  • Working capital management. 
  • Working with the commercial team, you will assist with commercial matters such as pricing, cost negotiation and project management.
  • Managing currency exchange risk with overseas suppliers.
  • Overseeing the preparation of VAT and Intrastat returns
  • Development of the financial reporting systems and internal control procedures. 
  • Strategies to improve gross margin opportunities and cost reduction measures.
  • Preparation of annual financial reports and liaising with the auditors. 
  • Managing Company Secretarial matters. 
Experience &
Skills Required:
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) 
  • At least 5 years at FC level 
  • Sage 50 experience 
  • Hands on and prepared to roll your sleeves up. 
  • Proven track record of performance reporting and producing management and statutory financial statements. 
  • Advanced Excel user and proficient in other MS Office products. 
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent system skills. 
  • Good staff management skills
