Our client, a leading full-service offshore law firm with a global presence is actively seeking a 'Global Head of Risk and Compliance' to join their London or BVI based team. This is an integral role within the firm in which the successful applicant will manage all aspects of compliance and risk within the firm's legal and fiduciary arm. 


  • Monitoring and ensuring the Group's adherence with laws, regulations, and internal policies whilst taking a commercial and practical approach to risk based challenges and offering appropriate solutions 
  • Reviewing and revising best business practices and policies to identify any potential risks 
  • Designing, implementing and overseeing an overall risk management plan for the Group
  • Undertaking risk assessment (both analysing and identifying potential risks for the Group)
  • Quarterly risk reporting to relevant personnel within the Group
  • Evaluating the Group's compliance with local laws and regulations 
  • Advising Senior Management on the regulatory, legislative and best practice changes and their obligations under these changes and how they impact the Group
  • Conducting policy and compliance audits 
  • Reviewing business continuity plans to limit risks
  • Potentially acting as Cayman Islands compliance officer 
  • Ensuring compliance projects are carried out to an excellent standard, efficiently and to deadline
  • Coordinating compliance and risk training with local compliance officers
  • Creating and managing effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations

  • A degree and a professional accounting or legal compliance qualification is preferable  
  • 10+ years' experience in risk management and compliance at a senior level
  • Practical and pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Extensive experience in both onshore and offshore compliance, preferably within a law firm or trust company
  • Knowledge of FATCA/CRS regulations
  • Experience and knowledge of Cayman Islands and/or British Virgin Islands regulatory framework preferable
  • Strong technical skills in business matters, corporate governance and regulatory law and risk
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written and presentation skills
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
