We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance to work for a Charity in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey. This role is part time, 24 hours per week. The head of finance will report to the CEO and work with their bookkeeper.


The Head of Finance (HOF) is responsible for day-to-day financial management, maintaining accurate and reliable financial records, preparing and presenting timely management and financial reports and forecasts.

The HOF is responsible for providing professional, organisational and departmental leadership of the following:

  • Financial control
  • Corporate compliance
  • ICT (contract oversight)
  • Taxation
  • Insurance and claims management

Job Overview:

  • Work with the Chief Executive as a key member of the Executive Team to help drive the strategic direction of the organisation;
  • Work strategically with the Executive Team to ensure joined-up thinking in the delivery of high quality services;
  • As a member of the Executive Team, adopt a collaborative and supportive approach, maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge and providing advice and assistance to colleagues as and when required;
  • In conjunction with the Chief Executive, contribute to the development of strategic and financial plan, keeping the business plan and other key strategies under review, including the pro-active management and mitigation of risk;
  • Overall responsibility for the financial management of the organisation, which includes maintaining accurate and timely records of all transactions in the books and accounts of the company



  • Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Part time hours - 24 hours per week, working days can be between Monday - Friday, 8:30/9am - 4:30/5pm.
  • The applicant must have strong, relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities
  • Sound business knowledge
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail.
