Our client is a long established firm specialising in construction projects within the hospitality sector. Offering a bespoke , tailored service to a prestigious client base across a wide variety of industries with projects ranging from c£20,000 to nearly £2m.

They are looking for a new Finance Manager/FC. The role will be to take over the finance function, replacing a long standing member of staff up for retirement.

  • The role will be to take over the finance function, replacing a long standing member of staff up for retirement. The expectation would be to supervise 2-3 staff (currently an Accounts Payable Assistant and a Credit Controller, potentially an Accounts Receivable Assistant).
  • Overseeing the transactional side, you will be responsible for the A-Z of accounts including balance sheet preparation, P&L, budgeting and some forecasting as well as year end accounts, and preparation and submission of Applications for Payment to building contractors.
  • Additional tasks will include bank reconciliations, stock control, expenses and credit card payments, and regular contact with project managers
  • You will be using Sage Line 50 and Excel, working with large volumes of data and formulas.

Flexible working options available. It is expected that once normal working conditions resume that you will work on an hybrid basis, possibly three of four days from home. Equipment will be supplied for this purpose. They offer 20 days holidays plus bank holidays and the core hours are 9-5.30. This is a great opportunity to join the firm when it is still relatively quiet - the business is likely to see a real upturn and their average turnover has been c£8m. The opportunity would be to grow into the role of FD within the future.

  • This is a very hands on role, and although you will have two-three transactional reports, you will still be willing to handle all aspects.
  • You will have had a long history of working in accounts and have worked as finance manager or financial controller, ideally within an SME and very preferably working in the construction sector.
  • It is essential that you will have experience of Sage Line 50 and intermediate Excel. Please note the client is not looking for or wanting a qualified - experience will be what counts.
