The position of Head of Operations & Finance is a key role for this charity based in Stratford upon Avon. The successful candidates will report directly to the CEO as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). Working across the organisation, the post holder will lead and manage the Finance, Facilities, IT and Information Management functions. The post holder will also provide regular reports to the Board and Trustee Committees.
Strategic financial planning & Regular KPI reporting to SMT and Board.
Develop and monitor financial procedures and systems to ensure accurate capture of financial information as required by Statute and Charities SORP.
Oversee the financial performance of the charity and work with SMT to develop strategies / actions to address any underperformance.
Develop and monitor detailed budgets and forecasts for each department.
Prepare the year end accounts for annual audit in accordance with SORP and completion of annual returns for Charity Commission, liaising with external auditors, the Chief Executive, the Board of Trustees as appropriate.
Prepare and review financial data for fundraising applications / business planning.
Line manage and support the Finance Manager on all financial process and transactional matters and in production of timely monthly financial reports.
Identify financial risk factors and implement appropriate controls to manage identified risks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations
IT / Systems - • Develop, implement and monitor the charity's IT Strategy.
Information Management - Act as the charity's Data Protection Officer, DPO, with responsibility for Data Protection Policy, processes and procedures.
Facilities / Health and Safety - Oversee the strategic development of Health & Safety across the organisation and line manage the facilities team
Property and Contracts - Manage commercial / property resources, including leases, and utilities contracts etc.
Senior Manager Responsibilities
Attend SMT and Board meetings, preparing relevant and timely information as requested.
Represent the charity at appropriate events, both internal and external, at the discretion of the CEO
Participate in other duties as required of Senior Managers.
Professional Accountancy qualification – ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA is essential
Health & Safety Qualification , would be an advantage
Recent and relevant operational and strategic management experience at a senior level to include Finance, IT, Facilities and Health & Safety.
Experience of managing and leading a finance department/function
Able to demonstrate sound understanding of financial processes including budget management, forecasting, day-to-day income and expenditure processes, monthly reporting and year end audit processes.
Able to prioritise diverse workloads with competing priorities to meet targets and deadlines
Able to demonstrate a collaborative working style & leading a successful team
Clear understanding of legal framework governing charity accounting
Knowledge of Data Protection legislation
Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements, risk assessments etc.
Competent IT skills, e.g. Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Articulate in written and verbal communication skills
