A growing technology company in Southampton requires an Interim Financial Controller ASAP for an initial 6 month period. There is the opportunity for this to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

This role is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s finances and administration. The role reports to the part time CFO and is responsible for managing the full time Finance Assistant.
The role will be full-time, but a flexible arrangement may be considered for an experienced candidate. A hybrid working pattern is possible, with the needs for visits to the Southampton office.
Responsible for all day-to-day bookkeeping in Xero. This includes reviewing invoices posted by the Finance Assistant, reconciling balance sheet accounts, bank accounts and posting journals
Responsible for co-ordinating all HR matters with the support of an external HR specialist. This includes supporting hiring processes, employee onboarding
Managing the payroll (with assistance from a payroll bureau), managing the pension scheme and employee off boarding
Managing all company tax affairs, with assistance from tax advisors where required. This includes submitting VAT returns, EIS matters, ERS filings (including EMI share option scheme), Corporation Tax returns (including R&D tax credits)
Working with project managers to produce quarterly reports for Innovate UK funded projects (loans and grants)
Preparation of monthly management accounts
Maintaining a rolling 12-month cashflow forecast
Insurance and facilities - responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance policies
Facilities management, with the support of the office-based Finance Assistant
Preparation of financial statements under FRS102
Company Secretarial duties
Working with the Supply Chain Manager to maintain stock records and streamline procurement processes
Monitoring and implementing robust financial controls
Business partnering to support the business in making decision and reporting against specific projects
Maintaining robust and appropriate HR, CSR and GDPR policies with support from specialists
Member of the management team, working with the CFO to represent Finance
Essential:
Qualified accountant
Minimum 3 years’ FC experience – this is not an entry level role, we need someone who can hit the ground running
Proficient Xero user
Proven track record in management accounting, year end financial statement preparation, compliance
