Our client, a British full-service law firm based in the City of London are looking for a new Financial Controller to lead their Finance Department.

The role is for an ambitious Financial Controller who would be capable of growing into the FD role in 2 years' time.

On offer is a salary of £60k - £80k depending on experience plus benefits.

  • Responsibility for managing the team of two Accounts Assistants and Office Manager
  • Oversight of invoicing and purchase ledger entries
  • Authorisation of bank payments and setting up
  • Management/strategy meetings
  • Monthly reconciliations of control accounts including Client Account
  • Compliance with SRA accounts rule, including regular client balance reviews and recording of breaches
  • Treasury management of cash reserves
  • Liaising with external auditors for the annual SRA accounts audit
  • Production of monthly management accounts for main trading and separate PLC holding companies
  • Preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Occasional preparation of numbers for statistical purposes, including ONS surveys
  • Company secretarial matters including minuting and payment of dividends and filing returns with Companies House
  • Preparation of payroll information for payroll bureau, including onboarding and off-boarding procedures, and uploading of monthly pension contributions
  • Preparation of P11d and calculation of tax due
  • Annual preparation of Share Option return
  • Quarterly VAT returns
  • Liaising with external accountants for year end accounts and Corporation tax
  • Preparation of information for insurance renewals, including PII
  • Liaising with benefits consultants for renewal of PMI and life insurance policies
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

  • Previous experience within Legal would be desirable as you will need to be in the know of the specific Solicitors Regulation Authority Accounts Rules for solicitors.
  • Qualifications preferred: ACA/FCA/ACCA/FCCA
  • Experience at FC level in a similar position
