Interim Financial Controller (6 months) for Construction company based near Exeter

Multi-site construction company. Turnover is circa £60m and is set to grow over coming years. Employee numbers total 150 at present but also use large sub-contractor base. Role can be based either in Midlands or the South-West.

The role reports directly to the Finance Director but there is regular contact with other members of the Senior Management Team.

Salary: £65-£75k depending on relevant experience

• Improve financial processes and controls to increase efficiency and output of finance function
• Hands-on approach to preparation of financial and other reports with major focus on reduction of current reporting cycles
• Improve accuracy, content & relevance of management reporting
• Develop KPI’s to monitor & improve operational performance
• Improve existing ERP systems
• Work closely with non-finance personnel to drive business performance
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
• Oversee credit control
• Comparison of actual versus budgeted performance & highlight any areas for improvement
• Ability to have immediate impact on the business
• Development & mentoring of finance staff
• Liaise with banks and other funders
• There may be an element of some travel to different operational sites to gain full understanding of operations
• Other ad hoc tasks as required

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
• Strong ERP skills and MS Products (Excel, Powerpoint, Word etc)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior finance role
• Good communicator, both verbally & in writing
• Positive, can-do attitude with demonstrable experience of improving & developing systems and processes and positively impacting bottom line
• Preference given to candidates from construction, engineering, manufacturing backgrounds
