Our client is a group of successful small manufacturing businesses. This vital new role of Group Financial Controller will report directly to the MD

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the business is operating effectively and efficiently, you will provide a strong and positive contribution to all areas of the business through the delivery of robust financial budgetary controls, management of the finance team, accurate reporting and identification of areas to improve the efficiency of the company's processes and profitability.

The ultimate responsibilities are to deal with finance, accounting, personnel and operations to ensure that the business is profitable and there are proper internal controls.

You will need to provide accurate monthly management information to the MD including monthly profit and loss account, balance sheet, aged debtors/creditors, stock.

Duties will include:

• Management of a small team (2-3 people) who will report directly to you
• Preparing and posting journals- reviewing work undertaken by finance team.
• Reconciling Inter-Company / Related Party Transactions
• Reviewing / preparing VAT returns and submission to HMRC once approved
  
• Processing payment runs once approved
• Ensuring stock system is correctly recording raw materials, finished goods & Work in progress.
• Reviewing stock valuation/ provisions, warranty provisions etc.
• Cashflow forecasting and actuals
• Maintain the renewals on company insurance
• Maintain all the necessary reporting to the banks and backup system reports
• Maintain the company bank balance
• Review all bank and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis
• Prepare Year end and liaise with external accountants
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Any other ad hoc duties as required by the MD

• Strong in SME systems such as Xero or SAGE
• Strong excel skills
• Experience of small groups and consolidations
• Good technical accounting skills
