Financial Controller required for a senior independent day school in SW Greater London / Surrey.

This will be a full time, permanent role and suit a candidate with good SME experience looking to work in the education sector

Duties for the Financial Controller will include leading the Finance function which includes providing strategic finance support, keeping accounting records, evaluating and managing risk, ensuring compliance with regulations, publishing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, analysing financial data, monitoring expenditure, forecasting revenue, coordinating auditing processes and ensuring accuracy of financial information.

Duties for the Financial Controller include:

• Manage month and year end finance processes and reporting
• Provide finance support to assess future acquisitions/business development
• Manage the credit control process to ensure debt is managed
• Providing strategic finance support
• Keep accounting records
• Evaluating and managing risk
• Ensuring compliance with regulations
• Publishing financial statements
• Oversee accounting operations
• Analysing financial data
• Monitor expenditure
• Forecasting revenue
• Coordinating auditing processes
• Ensure the accuracy of financial information

• Accounting qualifications - ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA
• Strong experience of month end close, functional reporting and preparation of statutory reports
• Ability to comprehend and narrate financial records for external stakeholders
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills - particulary Excel
• Knowledge of Xero and Sage
• Strong communicator and team player
• Experienced in successfully influencing decision making and implementing change
