We are working with an exciting Fintech business in London that are looking for a hands-on Head of Finance. The business is focussed on Crypto and has approx 65 people in the business to date. 

As an expert you will lead the finance function and play a key role in protecting the business from financial harm. This role demands flexibility, discipline, and team spirit to juggle multiple priorities and support data-driven decision making. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the company's complex group structure, respective finance relationships, and treasury strategy to lead the finance team accordingly to support the company's product offering and future growth.

What you will be doing!

  • You will develop a vision for the Finance function, in a growing crypto startup and build a team to support the company's strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with the Chiefs & senior leadership on fundraising strategy and execution, based on prompt & transparent reporting on the company's financial performance.
  • Manage the internal and external expert team to develop a reliable and accurate accounting, reconciliation and reporting system for the companies complex and crypto specific business model
  • You will own the budgeting cycle for the business and maintain the group financial model, providing regular forecasts and scenario modelling to the Board and senior leadership.
  • Set budgets with senior leadership and the Board
  • Be the ultimate owner of the group treasury strategy, including FX and hedging strategies, maintaining business liquidity, and safeguarding crypto assets.
  • Drive all financial functions, including management accounting, statutory reporting, and tax, designing and implementing robust financial controls for our overall group of several international entities.
  • Select and on-board with local auditors for key operational group entities, and work with local firms to ensure legal and regulatory compliance of all entities.
  • Ensure the efficient operations of accounts receivable and payables, payroll, and other financial operations.
  • You will ensure tax compliance for all group entities, implementing and maintaining a transfer pricing regime in line with local tax regulations
  • You will manage UK R&D tax credit claims, maximising value in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering departments in the development of a scalable, fit-for-purpose infrastructure for our crypto trading operations
  • You will own the implementation of regular management reporting, BI dashboards, and information resources for internal decision-makers.

What we are looking for!

  • You have a proven track record of building and scaling a finance team successfully within a fast-growing and entrepreneurial company, ideally integrating learnings from larger company environments on best practices.
  • Previously, you have worked in a crypto native startup, advisory, or company where accounting and reconciliation of crypto assets has been a key part of the function.
  • Experience in leading a finance function through regular audits and licence application processes.
  • Experience working in international, multi-jurisdictional groups, preferably including the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, UK, and/or Lithuania.
  • You have a proven ability to build complex financial models and perform analysis (FP&A) in a venture backed and /or crypto related business environment.
  • You have previous fundraising experience in a venture funded startup or scaleup (preferred Seed to Series A stage).
  • You are an expert at demonstrated readiness to support the hands-on operations of the company as required.
  • You have strong academic credentials coupled with experience gained within a top-tier investment bank, audit firm, or consulting/strategy firm.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, CA, CPA, CIMA, or ACCA. An MBA qualification will also be considered when combined with relevant financial leadership and industry experience.
