The Role:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the company, its subsidiaries, and commonly owned parts of Group. This senior leadership role requires strong accounting expertise, financial analysis, strategic thinking, and excellent managerial skills with a passion for embracing new technologies and developing a first-class finance function.

About You:

As a key member of the Senior Management Team working closely alongside the CFO you will support the smooth running of the finance function. You must have excellent technical skills alongside the ability to review costs, manage regulatory compliance, implement financial processes, and make recommendations for improvement. Support services work closely with the wider Sales business, so an ability to bring finance to life in an easy-to-understand way is imperative whilst dealing with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.


1. Accounting & Reporting:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate production of the monthly Management Accounts including P&L, Balance Sheet Cashflow Forecasting and KPI’s.
  • Develop and execute the company's financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyse key financial metrics, identifying areas of improvement and implementing corrective measures when needed.

2. Cash Flow and Working Capital Management:

  • Short Term Cash flow forecasting including cash receipts, payments to contractors and suppliers.
  • Overseeing effective day-to-day management of the company’s funding sources including but not limited to Invoice Factoring across multiple currencies and multiple legal entities.
  • Management of Creditor and Debtor positions to ensure best practice.

3. Compliance and Risk Management:

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards in the UK, Ireland, and USA. Financial compliance will include, but is not limited to:

  1. Preparation of VAT / GST, Payroll, Pension, Compensation & Benefits, Employer and Employee related taxes, and other required calculations & regulatory filings.
  2. Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed on a timely basis.
  3. Management of external administration including invoice finance, banking, insurance, property, compliance, tax.
  • Working with the auditors & external financial advisors to complete the annual audit in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial transactions.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, identify & communicating potential issues, and implementing risk management strategies.

4. Strategic Financial Planning:

  • Collaborate with the CFO and executive team to develop strategic financial plans aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, revenue growth, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive financial initiatives and projects to support the company's long-term growth and profitability.

5. Business Partnering

  • Working across all grades of the business, partnering with Consultants to Directors on queries and ad-hoc projects.
  • Partnering with Senior Leaders, as a key part of the SLT, to upskill them through improved financial awareness and conduit between Finance and the rest of the business (Sales & Support functions).
  • Developing relationships with external partners such as Audit, Bank & Insurance.

6. Team Management:

  • Manage and lead the finance team providing guidance, support, and development.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring efficient and accurate completion of financial tasks and projects.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth and development.


  • Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with 3+ years’ experience in similar roles.
  • Proven experience in a similar finance leadership role.
  • Human capital services experience, specifically the Recruitment sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and financial analysis techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • A track record of successfully managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems. Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Desired expertise with finance systems implementation, 3rd party ISV integration, and business intelligence products.
  • Someone who is high energy, hands on and detail orientated.
