Our client is a national membership body based in Bristol that is looking for a new part time Finance Director

Job Purpose: Provides strategic financial advice and support to the Board and Senior Management Team. Manage the company’s Company Secretarial function. Manage and oversee all HR and related matters. With the use of IT consultants, manage the company’s IT systems and services.

Hours: Part time 3 days /22.5 hours per week, Mondays in the office, other hours to be arranged

Salary: £75,000 pro rata

Reporting to; CEO

Responsible for:Finance Officers, HR Manager, Office Administrators, IT Consultant

Benefits: 25 to 28 days Leave, Birthday day off, Between Xmas and New Year time off, On site parking, Death in Service Insurance


Management

  • Be a key and integral part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Actively participate and contribute to SMT meetings and decisions.
  • Advise the Board, CEO and SMT on all financial, HR and IT matters.
  • Attendance and participation at meetings at the Bristol office and other UK locations.

Financial

  • Actively participate and support the Board, the Board Finance Group and Senior Management Team.
  • Develop, review, and monitor the budgets for each business department providing ongoing analysis and commentary thereon.
  • Production of monthly management accounts and reports.
  • Manage company-wide budgetary planning and control.
  • Ensure that all the company's financial practices are in line in Accounting Standards, statutory regulations and legislation.
  • Analyse the financial climate and market trends to assist the Board/SMT in creating strategic plans for the future.
  • Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed.
  • Monitor cash flow, bank accounts, and other financial transactions and consider investment of surplus funds.
  • Supervise the finance team in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
  • Prepare statutory accounts (full and abbreviated).
  • Prepare official reports on a monthly, annual, and ad hoc basis.
  • Seek methods and practices to minimise financial risk.
  • Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up to date.
  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and auditors.
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures that safeguard the assets of the business.
  • Maintain a policy manual for the finance department.
  • Prepare and submit annual Corporation Tax computations and CT 600

Company Secretarial

  • Attendance at Board Meetings
  • Submit audited accounts to Companies House.
  • Maintain dormant companies.
  • Maintain the Articles of Association.
  • Report changes and maintain all records at Companies House.
  • As required, amend the Articles of Association

HR

  • Oversee, together with the HR Manager, the HR function for the business.
  • Responsibility to maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • To manage and develop direct reports.
  • To undertake appraisals on all direct reports in accordance with the company’s appraisal process.
  • To recruit, train and develop staff ensuring talent management and succession plans are in place.
  • To proactively manage and drive a performance culture retaining the appropriate sensitivities for the industry.

IT

  • Oversee the IT provision across the business.
  • Manage the external provider of IT services.
  • Manage the acquisition and maintenance of hardware and software


  • CCAB qualified accountant .
  • Experience at senior level with a demonstrable track record of achievement.
  • Good leadership skills able to develop and drive high performing teams with a customer service ethos.
  • Experience of company secretarial duties.
  • Understanding of data privacy standards.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and practices.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough understanding of business principles and practices.
  • Good attention to detail.
