Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director (Media & Publishing sector)

The Finance Director will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy of our organization and ensuring its financial health and stability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, strategic thinking capabilities, and a deep understanding of financial principles and regulations in the UK.

Company: With offices in London and abroad, our client operates on a global basis and is the leading player in both Europe and the Middle East, serving its clients with Events, Digital services and print media. The business is fast growing and very ambitious in continuing to develop the company.

Reporting: This position reports directly to the Group Chief Executive who is based in London. In addition, successful execution of this role will require forging strong and close relations with our Chairman, who is Dubai based, and the UK Chief Executive who is London based.

Finance Team: the finance team reporting to the Finance Director currently comprises 9 people.


  • Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies in line with the organization's objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Be responsible for all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and taxation.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and performance evaluations to identify areas for improvement and optimize financial processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial goals with overall business objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, auditors, banks, lawyers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Monitor and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide strategic financial guidance to support decision-making across the organization.
  • Prepare and present in a timely fashion financial reports, including monthly management accounts, board reports, and annual financial statements.



  • 1. Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
  • 2. Proven experience (at least 7-10 years) in a senior finance role, with significant experience in financial management.
  • 3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • 4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • 5. Experience in multi department and multi currency working and reporting.
  • 6. Ideally familiar with Sage 200, although this is preferred rather than required, and good working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • 7. Experience in integrating ERP and MIS systems such as Salesforce with financial workflows.
  • 8. In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and taxation laws.
  • 9. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • 10. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • 11. High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to transparency and accountability.
  • 12. Energy and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and business needs
