Our client, a fast-growing UK accountancy practice backed by private equity and with a turnover exceeding £20m, is seeking an ambitious Accounting Director for the Southern Region.

This is an excellent next step for an experienced Associate Director or Senior Manager ready to take on regional responsibility within a progressive and forward-looking practice. The firm is continuing to modernise its operating model and invest in technology and process efficiency, creating opportunities for UK leaders to focus on client engagement, commercial insight, and strategic support.

This role is flexible across London, Surrey , Kent or Hampshire with good hybrid working in offer.

The Accounting Director will oversee accounting and compliance services for clients across the Southern region, ensuring consistent delivery standards and developing the local team into a true business advisory function. Working closely with regional leadership and specialist teams, you will support efficiency initiatives, enhance collaboration, and drive commercial value across client portfolios.


  • Regional Leadership: Oversee accounting and compliance operations across the Southern region, ensuring high-quality delivery and consistent client experience.
  • People Development: Lead, coach and develop a talented regional team, creating a culture focused on quality, accountability, and client service excellence.
  • Operational Efficiency: Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance productivity and optimise team resources across regions.
  • Client Partnership: Build strong relationships with clients, providing proactive commercial and strategic insight beyond traditional compliance work.
  • Performance Management: Monitor delivery performance, financial targets, and client satisfaction to ensure sustained growth and profitability.
  • Collaboration: Partner with other regional and specialist leaders to share knowledge, improve cross-functional working, and deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Innovation & Technology: Champion the use of technology and data-led insights to improve client outcomes and internal efficiency.


  • ACA or ACCA qualified with a strong background in practice.
  • Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams at a senior manager or associate director level.
  • Excellent technical grounding in accounts preparation, compliance and advisory work.
  • Commercially minded, able to identify opportunities to add value for clients and drive business improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Comfortable working in a changing, fast-paced environment with an appetite for process improvement and innovation.
